The Woodshed is one of those honest-to-god places where you go for live music and good beers. An old-school charm that feels up to date and not out of place when it comes to live local bands and good times.
Trick Shot opened the night with their high-octane sound, made all the more listenable by Ian Pooles frenetic fret work and Dave Varicelli's rumbling bass and Springsteen-esque wailings. These guys always play really well and introduced their sound to a new audience tonight who responded with plenty of cheers and raised glasses. Trick Shot are heading State-Side in October to play at the 'Punk in the Corn Festival". Safe travels Gents.
Dan Doobley and The New Messiahs are a heady mix of swirling keys, heavy riffs and school boy charm and their set had the crowd up on their feet and dancing along to the hypnotic grooves. Complete with their own range of prophylactic they closed the night out and displayed a sound that I'm sure many will be keen to hear at venues in the future.
We hit the stage and immediately fell into our groove. Alibi and Blacksun came and went with an ease and familiarity which makes them a joy to play. Watching new ears hear these tunes for the first time is great to watch from the stage - their attention grabbed and held as the crescendo of each tracks builds and keeps a tight hold of them for the duration. Our newest song (working title - Diminio) really grooved tonight and its good to road-test it in front of audiences. Its a very dynamic piece which twists and turns throughout it's 6 minutes making it something of a prog-rock addition to the set.
Thanks Everyone who turned out to make this a bumper evening - we love seeing so many of you some along to the shows, it makes a huge difference seeing people having a good time while we play - The Energy transference is huge!
